Motif to manage Road Safety Week for WIAA

The Western India Automobile Association (WIAA) is organising the ‘Road Safety Week' in Mumbai from January 1 to 7, 2011. Managed by Motif Advertising, the event is supported by the Government, in public interest. The agency has been associated with WIAA for the last eight years and has been managing all their events and PR. Conceptualised by Nitin Dossa, the WIAA Chief, the event will involve training public transport bus drivers and taxi drivers in how to make the city a safer place to travel in.

The event will be promoted extensively in electronic and print media as well as online. There will also be outdoor communication on vehicles and at petrol pumps. The title sponsor has not been finalised yet, but the organizers have been in talks with General Motors India, Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai, Mahindra and Mahindra, Mercedes India and Kotak, as well as several insurance companies, DTH companies, network providers, and mobile phone manufacturers.

On the purpose of the event, Eddna Samuel, CEO, Branding and Marketing, WIAA said, "The purpose of ‘Road Safety Week' is to reduce accidents and to make roads accident free."

Other members on the WIAA board are C. S. Sangitrao, IAS Principal Secretary, Transport & Excise, Maharashtra and A. N. Roy, IPS, Director General of Police, Maharashtra State. In addition, the Union Minister for Petroleum, the Environment Minsiter and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra will also grace the occasion.
