The 23rd Road Safety Week events were made a significant contribution to our children knowledge increscent about road safety issues. More than 11,000 school children participated in the bicycle riding campaign “Vigurivänt” and have improved their riding skills and theoretical knowledge about traffic rules. More than 200 children has participated on the drawing contest organised by the Police. They have expressed their thoughts about the hazards of everyday traffic. 120 drawings has been chosen for the final exhibition and 5 children from each age group have received the prizes from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Thousands of participants, children and their parents, on the public events in Tallinn, Tartu and all 15 counties had participated on the events, contests and courses.All the media channels actively participated in the campaigns. TV, daily newspapers and magazines published lot of interviews, articles and news during the whole campaign. At the internet portal “Delfi” public discussions about the vulnerable road users and road safety campaign message (“Mad behind the Wheel – Poor in Bed”.) were open. For the first part concerning mostly the vulnerable road users problems has arose and discussed how to make traffic more comfortable and safer, then about campaign message were very hot exchange of opinions. This message has received very opposite public reaction. The most important was that the message reached quite wide public attention .Indian Government and Road Administration state that the Twenty Third International Road Safety Campaign has been planned, managed and reported in Mumbai on the good level.
